In the world of user-generated content, each one of us is capable of becoming an overnight sensation. As we observe, discuss, and analyze Web 2.0, we will start to unravel what it means to live in Web 2.0. But mostly—as this is above all a writing course—from the first day of class, we will compose an exploration of the many forms and types of media that make up our daily experiences. In doing so, we will compose a living record of the what it means to create and compose in Web 2.0.

Teenage Dream - Katy Perry
Original:
Remix:
I have to give props to Brittani Louise Taylor for being able to turn such a spunky fun party song into a song so morose. Both versions are simply beautiful, but the fact that a girl who looks like she could be living in my neighborhood, looks like she could be my friend, and looks like the rest of us non-celebrities makes her parody really stick out to me. Brittani Louise Taylor is a regular person just like us, she doesn't have a recording studio and high tech equipment to make her song sound good, but she made it apparent through a great message and theme. This remix works because it basically has the same catchy melody as the original but with a deeper significance, significance towards the death of somebody close. Everybody goes through this at some point in their life so it's definitely relatable.
Piano Renditions of the Original:
Just thought I'd share with those who might like the piano. I find this piece more relaxing from the original, still fun. It's really cool how a song can be interpreted in so many ways.
And for the Ladies in Class ;)
haha, You know you love it.

ReplyDeleteomg boyce avenue ! the man's voice is heavenly <333 i listen to all their covers.
ReplyDeleteits amazing how much people out there have such great voices and talents. Many videos like this on youtube show how people can get discovered
ReplyDeleteGreat example of a remix, ChazP.
ReplyDeleteI like how both videos share the same idea. Both the remix and the original content are based around love. I also like how you used a parody, but a parody that is not humorous. When I think of Parady I think of comedy, but this is an example of a serious parody with a message
